Spiritual Life
Emmanuel Baptist Church is a growing church with many opportunities of service and spiritual development. All students who move into our area in order to attend EBTS will be required to join and attend Emmanuel Baptist Church. This will not only qualify students to be involved in the ministries of the church, but it is consistent with our local church philosophy. Of course, all students will be required to attend Sunday School, the morning and evening Sunday services, the Wednesday evening prayer meeting, and all conferences or revival meetings. Only pastors who attend the Monday classes only will be exempt from any special services held during the week (other than Monday night).
The church has a full range of ministries, e.g., Sunday School; children's ministry; the youth ministry; the music ministry (choir, orchestra, musical groups); the deaf ministry; the bus ministry; Senior Fellowship, etc. Soul-winning opportunities will also be provided through the regular program of the church. It is the desire of the pastor and the administration of the Seminary that students will get involved in at least one ministry of the church. We should remember that God does not suspend our responsibility to exercise our spiritual gifts in the context of the local church simply because we are involved in seminary classes. Christian service is a way of life, not an "add-on" to the Christian life! As students get involved, not only in the Seminary classes, but also in the church ministries, the people of the church will become committed to them. The church folk will follow the on-going ministry of the seminarians and even their future ministry. Each seminary student will find a "home" here in New England at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
