Emmanuel Baptist Theological Seminary

Admissions Information

Who Should Apply

Emmanuel Baptist Theological Seminary (EBTS) was established to train men and women for Christian service in the local church. The following are encouraged to apply:

  • Those who are preparing for full-time Christian ministry as pastors, evangelists, missionaries, teachers, and other related fields.
  • Those who are interested in gaining a richer knowledge of the Word of God that they may be of greater service to the Lord and their local church.

When to Apply

Students may apply to EBTS at any time. EBTS accepts qualified students as long as there is space available. Because there is no application deadline, prospective students are encouraged to apply early.

Application for Admission

Three weeks should be allowed for processing an application for admission. Upon completion of processing, an applicant is notified in writing of the approval or rejection of his application. In the event an application is received too late for complete processing before the opening of school, the student is granted a tentative admission. Such admission, however, may be withdrawn and the enrollment cancelled, if, during the processing, information is revealed which would have led to disapproval prior to the tentative enrollment. An applicant will not be given official status as a student until his application is completely processed. EBTS does not discriminate against applicants and students on the basis of race, color, nationality, or ethnic origin.

First-time Students

First-time applicants are encourage to use the following checklist throughout the application process:

  1. Download and complete an application for admission.
  2. Attach a recent photograph.
  3. Enclose the $30 application fee.
  4. Request your undergraduate institution to send copies of your transcripts directly to the Seminary. If you have yet to graduate, request your undergraduate institution to send a transcript of your course work completed up until the current semester.

Transfer Students

Follow the same procedure as outlined for first-time students. If you are planning on transferring credits from another institution, request that each institution send a complete transcript to EBTS.

Attendance

All students, regardless of Academic Classification, are expected to attend all scheduled classes. If you are absent from class more times than a class meets in a week, you will forfeit your quality points for that class (i.e., if you miss a 3-hour class four times, you will not receive any quality points for that class). If your absences exceed three per credit hour taken for a class, you will forfeit credit for that class (i.e., if you miss a 2-hour class seven times, you will not receive credit for that class).

Academic Standards

We intend that each graduate will have received the best training possible; therefore, high academic standards are maintained. Students are expected to do a high level of work commensurate with their educational backgrounds. A report of grades will be issued to each student at the end of each semester's work according to the following grade and point scale:

Grade Comment Grade Points per hour
A Excellent 4
B Above Average 3
C Average 2
D Passing 1
F Failing 0

Other codes used on grading reports/transcripts are the following:

Code Comment
I Incomplete
W Withdrew from school with official permission
WP Withdrew from course passing
WF Withdrew from course failing

After two weeks of the completion of a semester, all projects must be turned in for satisfactory completion of a course. Students making unsatisfactory progress for one semester will be placed on academic probation the following semester.
